Youth Curling

 INTRODUCTION

The Youth Curling Program is a very active program focusing on introducing young people to curling as a recreational and social sport, developing the skills of young curlers and FUN!  Curling is a great way to meet people and make friends, while learning a sport you can play for a lifetime. 

CurlESP offers comprehensive programs emphasizing fun, skills development and learning and playing the game.  Our youth programs will be run on Sundays from October until March, with a two week break during the Christmas school break.

CurlESP is bringing back a Youth On-Ice Curling Coordinator for the 2024 – 2025 curling season. 

The On-Ice Youth Coordinator will coordinate and facilitate the Bantam and Little Rocks curling programs throughout the season and provide assistance to the development of our Junior Inter-club league teams.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

 

LITTLE ROCKS     (Ages 6 - 9)      League Day/Time – Sundays – 3:00 – 4:00 PM

The emphasis is on fun while learning the fundamentals and etiquette of curling.  Instruction will be provided to develop our curlers skills and technique with game play being gradually introduced.

Equipment Required: Curling broom, clean soled shoes, gripper, slip on slider (optional), comfortable loose fitting clothing,  and a curling (or hockey) helmet is strongly recommended for curlers who are 12 years of age or under as of December 31st, 2024. CurlESP has brooms available for use during league play.

Registration Fee: Includes weekly $5.00 draw, Christmas prize bag, End of Season wind-up lunch & prizes.

 


BANTAM     (Ages 10 - 13)       League Day/Time – Sundays – 12:30 – 2:30 PM

The emphasis is on fun while learning the fundamentals and etiquette of curling.  Instruction will be provided to develop curlers skills, technique and strategy using a combination of drills and game play.  The first part of the season will focus on a combination of instruction and short games.  Curlers will then progress to a round robin tournament and play-offs to end the season.

Equipment Required: Curling broom, clean soled shoes, gripper, slip on slider or proper curling shoes, comfortable loose fitting clothing, and a curling (or hockey) helmet is strongly recommended for curlers who are 12 years of age or under as of December 31st, 2024. CurlESP has brooms available for use during league play.

LITTE ROCK & BANTAM VOLUNTEERS are required to make our curling program a success!

There are both on-ice and off-ice volunteer options available throughout the curling season. Options for volunteer sign-up will be available during registration. If you would like additional information on volunteer opportunities, please CLICK HERE .

 


JUNIOR INTER-CLUB     (Ages 14 - 18)      League Day/Time - Sundays - Morning @ 10 AM / Afternoon @ 1 PM

We are looking for junior curlers to sign up as individuals or as an entire team.  Experienced Bantam curlers can also participate in the inter-club league.  For those curlers that sign up as individuals, teams will be formed at the start of the season.  

The season will begin with each team participating in three weeks of clinics. These sessions are designed to prepare the teams for the curling season with the refinement of skills, technique and strategy using a combination of intensive drills and game play.  Team positions will be finalized during the clinics.  Additional practice sessions will occur during the curling season, as required.  Teams will then participate in a round robin tournament each week with junior curling teams throughout the surrounding area, with play-offs to end the season.     

Equipment Required: Curling broom, clean soled shoes, gripper, slip on slider or proper curling shoes, and comfortable loose fitting clothing is required.

Registration Fee: Includes End of Season wind-up lunch and prizes.

 


JUNIOR INTER-CLUB VOLUNTEERS:

We require volunteers with curling experience to help out as coaches during the season for our inter-club teams.   Ideally, we would like two volunteers per team to alternate games throughout the season.  Coaching guidance/direction will be provided at the beginning of the season.

Club Information

The East St. Paul Curling Club, located in East St. Paul, Manitoba, was founded in 1957 by a group of local citizens. Over the years the club has undergone many upgrades and today is a world class facility.
