 Youth Program Details

Junior Inter-Club — Ages 14–18

The Junior Inter-Club program is a recreational and developmental league that gives youth the opportunity to build their curling skills while playing regular games against teams from other local curling clubs.

The league currently includes East St. Paul, Stonewall, Selkirk and West St. Paul Curling Clubs. Games are played at East St. Paul and participating Inter-Club curling clubs throughout the season, so some travel is required.

Season & Game Times

The season runs from late October to mid-March. Games are played on Sundays from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM at one of the participating curling clubs.

Instruction and skill-development opportunities are also scheduled throughout the season.

Who Can Register?

The program is designed for youth ages 14–18. Experienced younger curlers, including skilled 12 and 13-year-olds, may also participate where appropriate.

Curlers can register:

  • As a full team, or
  • Individually - you do not need to have a team to join.

Individual registrants may identify friends or preferred teammates during registration. Team requests will be considered when teams are formed.

Coaches

Each Inter-Club team is required to have a coach. A parent may serve as the team's coach.

Equipment

Curlers require:

  • Clean indoor shoes that have not been worn outside, or curling shoes
  • Slider
  • Broom

Bantam — Ages 10–13

Bantam is a learn, practice and play program for youth ages 10–13. Whether your child has never curled before or already has experience on the ice, the program provides weekly instruction and opportunities to develop their skills throughout the season.

Season & Program Times

Bantam runs on Sundays from 12:30–2:30 PM, from mid-October to mid-March.

Learn, Practice & Play

Instruction is provided each week, with participants developing their curling skills at their own pace. As curlers progress, they will gradually be organized into teams and introduced to game play. More regular game play is typically introduced during the second half of the season.

No team is required to register - Bantam participants register individually.

Equipment

Curlers require:

  • Clean indoor shoes for use on the ice
  • Slider
  • Broom

Brooms are available at the club for participants who need one. The club has a limited number of sliders available, so participants should plan to bring their own each week.

Helmets

Helmets are recommended but not required for Bantam participants. Many of our youth curlers choose to wear one while on the ice.

Included in the Program

  • Weekly instruction and skill development
  • Weekly $5 attendance draw
  • End-of-season banquet and prizes

Little Rocks — Ages 6–9

Little Rocks introduces young curlers ages 6–9 to the sport in a fun, supportive environment. No previous curling experience is needed - participants learn the fundamentals of curling while building their skills and confidence on the ice throughout the season.

Season & Program Times

Little Rocks runs on Sundays from 3:00–4:00 PM, from mid-October to mid-March.

Learn, Practice & Develop

Instruction is provided each week and focuses on developing fundamental curling skills through practice and on-ice activities.

As participants become more comfortable on the ice, they will have opportunities to put their new skills into practice through curling activities and game play. The focus at this level is on learning, skill development and having fun, rather than league play.

Little Rocks participants register individually - no team is required.

Equipment

Curlers require:

  • Clean indoor shoes for use on the ice
  • Slider
  • Broom

Brooms are available at the club for participants who need one. The club has a limited number of sliders available, so participants should plan to bring their own.

Helmets

Helmets are highly recommended for all Little Rocks participants while on the ice.

Included in the Program

  • Weekly instruction and skill development
  • Weekly $5 attendance draw
  • End-of-season banquet and prizes

Parent Participation

Parents and caregivers are always welcome to join us on the ice during Little Rocks and Bantam sessions. No curling experience or equipment is required - just bring a pair of clean indoor shoes that have not been worn outside.
