Welcome to the 2026-27 season and our 69th year as a curling club! Just like last year it is always important to remind everyone of the importance of respect and fair play to all participants & visitors to CurlESP.
Garth and his crew are back for another season, with Churchy and Blair leading the way throughout the season. There was a small hiccup in the startup of the install, but the team rallied and will deliver another season of amazing ice conditions. You will also notice some changes out on the ice surface as we have purchased permanent rings and hoglines as well as new removable hacks. We have also scheduled four ice maintenance periods during the season to allow for reflooding as well as rock sharpening to keep the ice conditions at their best.
Your convenors are busy planning their league(s) for the upcoming season. If you are unable to ice a team for any of your draws, please respect your opponent and reach out to cancel your game. I also wanted to thank all of them for taking on the leadership of these leagues as we could not do it without them. So, thank you Michelle H, Harold, Ili, Terri, Shirley, Leslie, Dan, Michelle H, Lynne, Marilyn, Debbie, Ron, Kelsey, Leanne and Perry.
We have been busy over the summer break making improvements to the club.
We discovered a couple cracked pipes in the building (lower-level men’s locker room as well as in the lounge) so you should notice a more pleasant aroma in the building. Big thanks to Bill for all his work with the drywalling.
The bar team has some familiar faces returning this season. Happy to have Hannah, Hayley, Chewy, Sarah, Jenn, and Alanna back. I want to welcome Aidan and Casey back behind the bar to round out the lineup this season.
A big shout out to our nightly sponsors Tuesday - NEW Sponsor with Kilter Brewing, Wednesday - NEW Sponsor with Fort Garry Brewing, Thursday Original 16, Friday Torque Brewing, and Saturday Trans Canada Brewing.
Yia Yia’s – Roula and her team will be there to serve you. Please check our website for her menu and hours of operation.
We would appreciate those curlers who do not have a locker rented for the season, to please use the cloak room to store your belongings during league play. The main floor is also the “dining room” and we want to ensure that guests coming to enjoy a meal have somewhere to sit and enjoy both their food and the competition on the ice.
We have a few events planned during the 2026-27 season. We are hosting a Mixed Double Super Series event in late November, as well as the closing ceremonies of the Manitoba Open in January (January 7-11).
I also wanted to thank all our amazing partners that have chosen to advertise with us and would like to ask if you support them in turn.
I am looking forward to another great season here at CurlESP and welcome all feedback you have on your experience.
Respectfully
Robert Mol
