Hi everyone!
I can't believe how quickly the 2025/26 curling season has gone by; it’s time to reflect on our CurlESP season! Thank-you to each and every one of you who choose to curl at CurlESP.
In November, a Hollywood film crew turned our curling club into a movie set with the filming of Sticks and Stones; the story of American curler John Shuster and his underdog team's journey to winning the 2018 Olympic gold medal. In January, we had the pleasure of hosting the MB Open opening ceremonies for the first time in our clubs history; and for 3 days in February, we partnered with the Manitoba High School Athletic Association to host the Provincial Curling Championships. CurlESP was excited to host some member only events during the winter Olympics games, to help bring the Olympic spirit to our curling club; thank-you to all of you who participated.
CurlESP welcomed our new food service provider, YiaYia Your Favorite Greek - Hopefully everyone was able to experience some of the great menu options during the season. And the great news... YiaYia's will be back for the 2026/27 curling season!
CurlESP has joined the Winnipeg Curling Club Association - This collaboration has provided CurlESP the opportunity to become more involved with other urban curling facilities; we've met some really wonderful club representatives and have had the ability to share information with the common goal of growing our sport and offering the best curling experience we can.
We completed a few building projects, including the installation of the on-ice cameras, completed a sound system upgrade and have added permanant rings and logos to our ice shed. For the 2026/27 season, we will be installing removable hacks which will help optimize our ice maintenance.
Thank-you to our ice crew, our Eight Ender Lounge staff, our facility cleaner, our league conveners, our On-Ice Youth Coordinator, our Sponsors and of course our Club Manager, Robert Mol for giving us a great season of curling.
To our Board of Directors; you are such a wonderful group of individuals and we continued to work so well together for the betterment of our curling club. Thank-you for all that you do!
I hope everyone has a wonderful summer and we look forward to welcoming you back in October!
