We have decided for safety concerns to cancel all draws of curling from Monday, October 26th to Friday, October 30th inclusive.
We have not made this decision lightly but have done so with everyone’s best interests in mind.
As many of you are aware, a contractor began doing maintenance work on our roof on Thursday, October 22nd.
It came to light during the Friday (October 23rd) daytime curling draws that the ice was being affected by minuscule shavings falling from the ceiling. This was not an anticipated side effect by either us or the roofers. It was determined that these shavings made it unsafe for our curlers.
The ice was scraped and pebbled yesterday for the Friday night league and curling will continue over the weekend (October 24th & 25th) as no roof work is being done over the weekend. The roofers will start work again early Monday morning, October 26th.
You will be contacted with schedule updates in the following days. League convenors were notified on Friday evening and they are in the process of notifying their league members.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
