We recently moved our AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and combined it with our First Aid supplies so that everything you might need can be found in the same place.
The new location is to the right of the main floor canteen and is highly visible from anywhere on the main floor or ice shed areas.

We have added plenty of colourful signage along with a few informational posters on heart attacks, stroke and head injuries. We replaced our original AED (2008) in late February with a brand new 2024 model called the HeartSine 500P.
All AED's are designed to be used by bystanders who may have little or no CPR experience. The main features on all AED's include:
- Easy to use without prior training or instruction.
- A single power button to turn the AED on.
- Loud step by step voice prompts.
- Metronome sound to help maintain proper rate of chest compressions.
- The ability to detect a heart rhythm and determine if a shock needs to be administered.
- Single use disposal defibrilator pads.
It should also be noted that none of the AED's manufactured after 2010 prompt for "rescue breaths". Most bystanders are not trained in mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Even without the rescue breaths, hard and fast chest compressions are what is going to keep the blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs.
Our HeartSine 500P AED has an additional feature that not only provides feedback on the rate of compressions but the DEPTH of compression. To watch a short video on the HeartSine 500P, CLICK HERE.
When you open the AED cabinet door, a local alarm will sound; simply close the door and the alarm will stop.
Everything that you will need for a medical emergency is attached to the AED and you DO NOT need to remove the AED from its yellow and blue case to use it. The following items are included with the AED:
- The address and telephone number of the East St Paul Curling Club (911 will ask for that information)
- A "Rescue Kit" in a black bag that contains gloves, wipes, paper towel, scissors and a razor.
- Additional "Rescue Kit" items can be found in the blue zipper pouch on the back side of the AED.
